Terms of use — Buckhour
Last updated 30 September 2026
These terms cover your use of Buckhour ("the app"), published by Escape Plan Software Ltd ("we", "us"), company number 17262078, registered in England and Wales. By downloading or using the app, you agree to these terms and to Apple's standard end-user license agreement below.
License
Your use of Buckhour is governed by Apple's Standard End User License Agreement (EULA), which you can read at apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula. Where these terms and the Apple EULA conflict on a point the EULA covers, the Apple EULA governs.
Weather data
YOUR USE OF THIS REAL TIME WEATHER GUIDANCE APPLICATION OR WEBSITE IS AT YOUR SOLE RISK. WEATHER DATA MAY NOT BE ACCURATE.
- Hourly weather comes from Apple Weather (WeatherKit). Apple's weather data may differ from actual conditions, for example because of signal issues or local terrain. Data sources are listed at weatherkit.apple.com/legal-attribution.html.
- Buckhour does not show Apple's weather values as Apple supplies them. It turns them into its own categories: an 8-point wind direction, wind-speed bands (from calm to very strong) with a gusty flag, temperature bands (cold, cool, mild, warm) and how temperature changes, a pressure trend, and chance-of-rain bands. It adds its own calculations: whether the wind suits each stand, an illustrative scent drift, and a sit rating. These categories and calculations are ours, not Apple's, and they are not exact readings. The app lists every band under Settings → How ratings work.
- Without a connection, the app shows the last forecast it downloaded (kept for up to 3 days) and says how old it is.
- Buckhour is not designed or intended for emergency, safety or life-saving decisions. Check official weather warnings (in the US from the National Weather Service, elsewhere from your national weather service) before you go out.
- You may not copy, extract or reverse engineer the weather data shown in the app.
What Buckhour is, and is not
Buckhour describes hunting conditions and keeps your own log. It does not predict where or when deer will move.
- The sit rating describes conditions at a stand for an hour: mostly the wind against the directions you set for that stand, then dawn and dusk light, with small weight for temperature, pressure, rain and solunar periods. The app explains every rating.
- Moon times and solunar periods are calculated on your iPhone. Solunar periods are a traditional method with weak evidence, and the app labels them that way.
- "Your Data" summarizes your own log. It shows how many sits each figure rests on. Small numbers can mislead; it is a record, not a forecast.
- First and last light are not legal hunting hours. Buckhour does not show legal hunting hours, seasons, bag limits or other regulations. You are responsible for following the laws and regulations where you hunt; in the US and Canada the app links to state and provincial wildlife agencies for that information, and their rules prevail.
- Rut dates in the app are dates you set (in the US and Canada they start at the three weeks from November 1, for you to adjust). Buckhour does not estimate the rut.
- You are responsible for having permission to hunt where you place stands. The app does not show property lines or ownership.
Subscriptions
- What's on offer: Buckhour is unlocked by an auto-renewing subscription, either yearly or monthly. Before you subscribe you can place your first stand and see its sit windows for the next day, free. Current prices and any free trial are shown on the purchase screen inside the app and on the App Store before you buy. That is the source of truth, not this page, because Apple localizes and may update pricing.
- Free trial: Eligible new subscribers to the yearly plan get a 7-day free trial. Before you confirm, the purchase screen shows the trial on a timeline (today free for 7 days, a reminder on day 5 if you turn reminders on, the yearly price on day 7) and says under the button what you will be charged and how to stop it (for example, "Then $39.99/year, renewing unless you cancel in iPhone Settings at least 24 hours before the trial ends."). If you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, you are not charged. The monthly plan has no trial.
- Auto-renewal: Subscriptions renew automatically for the same length and price shown at purchase, unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple Account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the current period ends.
- Cancellation: You can cancel any time in your device's Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions, or from Buckhour's Settings → Manage Subscription. Canceling stops future renewals; you keep access until the end of the period you already paid for. We cannot cancel a subscription on your behalf, because Apple manages billing.
- Your data if you stop: your stands, sits and photos stay on your device whether or not you subscribe. You can delete them at any time in the app.
- Refunds: All purchases are billed by Apple, so refunds are decided by Apple: request one from Buckhour's Settings → Request a Refund (shown while a purchase you paid for is active) or at reportaproblem.apple.com. If Apple declines a refund and you believe that is wrong, write to support@escapeplan.software and we will look into it.
- Price changes: If we ever change the price, Apple notifies existing subscribers in advance, and asks for your agreement where the rules require it. You can cancel before the new price applies.
Acceptable use
Buckhour is for your personal use. Please do not copy, resell or redistribute the app or its data, or reverse engineer it except where the law allows you to.
No warranty
The app is provided "as is". We work to keep it reliable and to fix reported bugs, but we do not promise it will be error-free or available without interruption, or that weather data will be accurate or available, to the extent permitted by law.
Liability
Our liability to you is as set out in Apple's Standard EULA. Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability that cannot be limited or excluded by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. If you are a consumer, you have legal rights in relation to digital content that is faulty or not as described; nothing in these terms affects those rights.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Any dispute is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have in your state or country of residence.
Changes
We may update these terms as the app changes. The current version is always the one published at this address, and material changes will be flagged inside the app.
