Get in touch
Email support@escapeplan.software. A person reads every message. Tell us you're writing about Nibblist, which iPhone and iOS version you're on, and what you expected to see. Please don't send your child's name, notes, photos or a backup file unless we ask for something specific.
Nibblist is a log and a checklist, not advice. It doesn't tell you what to offer, when or how. For questions about starting solids or allergens, ask your child's doctor or health visitor. If you think your child is having a serious allergic reaction, call your local emergency number.
Frequently asked questions
- How do I tick a food? On the Foods tab, tap the box next to a food: it's logged as tried today. Tap Add Details on the note that appears to add how it went, tags, a note or a photo. You can also touch and hold a food and choose Tried Today.
- Can I tick many foods at once? Yes. On the Foods tab, tap the + button and choose Tick Several Foods, select the foods, then tap Tick … Foods and choose Today, Yesterday, Another Day or Before I Started the Log.
- What does "Before the log" mean? Foods your child had tried before you started using Nibblist, when you don't know the date. They count as tried and count toward allergen totals, but not toward "days since". You can add a date later by opening the tasting.
- How was the list of 100 chosen? 100 everyday foods in 8 groups, chosen so each of the 9 major food allergens appears at least once. It leaves out honey, and the drinks, fish and foods the CDC lists to avoid or limit for babies and toddlers. In Spain, France, Finland and Denmark the list also follows that country's guidance lists: a few foods are left out there and other everyday foods take their place (the app names the source). Being on the list isn't a recommendation. Settings → About the List and Sources explains more and links to official pages.
- My family doesn't eat some foods, or eats foods that aren't on the list. Open a food and tap Hide from My List. Add your own foods with the + button on the Foods tab; they count toward the 100.
- Why do some food names look different? Names follow your iPhone's region: courgette and aubergine in the UK and Ireland, capsicum and rockmelon in Australia and New Zealand. Nibblist is also in German, Spanish and French, with the names used in Austria, Switzerland, Mexico and Quebec.
- What do the allergen counts mean? How many tastings of foods with that tag you logged, the first and last day, and the days since the last one. Nibblist doesn't say when or how often to offer allergens.
- Which allergen list does Nibblist use? It follows your region: in the UK and Ireland, the NHS's list of 12 foods that can cause reactions; in the EU, the EEA and Switzerland, the 14 allergens of EU food law (Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011, Annex II); elsewhere, the 9 major food allergens (milk, egg, fish, crustacean shellfish, tree nuts, peanut, wheat, soy and sesame; the FDA's list in the US). You can choose any of the three in Settings → The list → Allergen list. Allergens that aren't among the 100 foods, such as celery or mustard, count when you add your own food and tag it. You can tag your own foods with any allergen on your list.
- How do reminders work? Open a food or an allergen and tap Remind Me… (the bell). Pick a day and time for a one-off reminder, or turn on Remind When Not Logged to be reminded after the number of days without a tasting you choose. Nibblist doesn't suggest a schedule. Settings → Your reminders lists them all.
- How do I share the log with our doctor? Share tab → Share PDF for the Doctor. The PDF is for the child whose list is open and lists the allergen counts, every food tried with its first date, and your notes and tags. Export CSV Spreadsheet gives you the same log as a spreadsheet.
- Two children, or twins? Settings → Children → Add a Child. Each child has their own list, allergen counts, journal and report. Switch child from the name at the top left.
- How do I move my log to a new iPhone? On the old iPhone: Share → Back Up Now, and save the file to Files or iCloud Drive. On the new iPhone: Share → Restore from a Backup, and pick the file. Replace puts the backup in place of what's on the iPhone; Merge adds what isn't there yet. Either way the app keeps a copy first, so you can undo it with Share → Undo Last Restore or Merge until you change anything else. Your iCloud or computer backup of the whole device also includes Nibblist's data.
- Can my partner see the log on their phone? There's no account or sync, but you can send your tastings. Share → Send Tastings, then send the file by AirDrop or Messages. On their iPhone they open it in Nibblist and tap Merge: it adds the tastings and details that aren't there yet and removes or writes over nothing. Where both phones have something different for the same tasting, each keeps its own. The file includes every child you log for, and the line under the button names them; photos stay on the phone they were added on. To keep both phones the same, send files both ways.
- Where are my photos? In Nibblist's own folder on your iPhone, resized. They're not added to your photo library. They are included in backups, but not in tastings you send to another iPhone.
Subscriptions and purchases
- What's free? Ticking the foods your child has already tried in the first steps, and seeing your progress. Keeping the log needs a subscription: yearly with a 7-day free trial for eligible new subscribers, or monthly.
- Cancel or change a subscription: open your device's Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, or use Settings → Manage Subscription in Nibblist. Canceling stops the next renewal; you keep access until the current period ends. To avoid being charged after a free trial, cancel at least 24 hours before it ends.
- What happens to my log if I stop? It stays on your iPhone. You can still back it up or delete it.
- Restore a purchase on a new device: sign in with the same Apple Account and use Restore Purchases on the subscription screen or in Nibblist's Settings. Your log isn't transferred by this; use a backup (above).
- Refunds: Apple decides refunds. Request one in Nibblist's Settings → Request a Refund (shown while a purchase you paid for is active) or at reportaproblem.apple.com. If Apple turns you down and you think that's wrong, write to us and we'll look into it.
Your data
Nibblist collects no personal data; your log, notes and photos stay on your iPhone. Delete them any time in the app, or all at once in Settings → Delete All Data. See the Nibblist privacy policy. To ask about any data we hold from an email you sent us, or to have it deleted, email support@escapeplan.software; we answer within one month.
Report a bug
Send the steps to reproduce it, the app version (shown in Nibblist's Settings) and your device's iOS version. Please describe the problem rather than sending your log.
